Susan - Easy Die Cutting Techniques
Die cutting is my favorite thing in all of card-making and paper crafting! They truly inspire me all by themselves!
So here is my submission for die cutting. For this card, I used the larger of the two dies in the Hanging Garden die set. I cut the first layer out of some water color paper that I had (once again) used my crystallized water color powder on for the greenish-blue leaf color, cut a second one for the coral berries, and a third one for the rose gold outline overlay. I left the outline of the leaves underneath and put the gold die cut on top which then provides a little more interest and dimension, I think.
The background uses a printed paper that has pastel splatters on it, and that is slightly popped up by a thick cardstock underneath for a touch of dimension.
The sentiment is from the Fancy Greetings stamp set - one of my favorites as well. Love the calligraphy of these sentiments! I used Distress Glaze in the new Salvaged Patina. I embossed it twice to give it a little more definition but not so much as to appreciate the transparent nature of this embossing glaze.
In the photo above, you can also see the glittery aspect of the watercolors along with the variation in shades. SUCH fun to work with these!
The coral berries are inlaid so that they appear a little bit "set back."
I was tempted to do a bit more with this card, but decided to leave well enough alone. Hope you enjoy this card!
