Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop + Giveaway 2022

What a wonderful time to honor parents - those we have, those we are, and those who wish to be! And also to think about our Ukrainian friends who are enduring such challenging times and trying to keep themselves and their children safe. Our hearts go out to them.

There truly is nothing quite like a Mother's Love, and the card I made, using that beautiful sentiment from the Wild Hibiscus stamp set seems fitting for this card drive and blog hop.

This is a shaker card (please pardon the glare on the front of the card from the acetate!). I started with a piece of heat resistant acetate and stamped one of the hibiscus images onto it with white embossing powder. I then flipped the acetate over to color the back (which I did with alcohol markers. A bit hard to see here, but there is some blending of lighter and darker shades of pink. I then cut the scalloped opening into the card front and then embossed it to give some additional dimension and interest. The acetate piece was then attached to the back of the card, as well as foam tape around the edges to make room for the shaker elements, which can be seen both through the clear "window" as well as the hibiscus flower. Flat sequins were then added in the "well" made by the foam tape, and a patterned paper coated with some glitter was placed behind the shaker window. This whole element was then mounted onto an ombre pink card base. The sentiment was stamped with dark pink embossing powder onto pearlized pink card stock, and that piece was matted with an iridescent card stock to help it stand out. Embellishments included some small pink hearts scattered here and there as well as Nuvo drops on the embossed piece.

I typically make a coordinating envelope to go with my cards, and you can see the envelope front in the lower left hand corner of the photo, where I stamped the same floral image and included some of the leaf element as well.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing this Mother's Day card and found some inspiration to create your own card!
